The series incorporates facts about American history with explaining how weapons were made for successful survival for living off the land. Four talented competitors go to a ranch in Montana as they strive to become the Ultimate Marksman, a title achieved only by completing three rounds of precision-based challenges. Each competitor must use a different centuries-old weapon and technique to effectively hit targets. The challenges also present a unique twist requiring competitors to move through the landscape in a way that only mountain men and women would. At the end of the third and final round, the marksman or markswoman with the highest total points earns the coveted title and walks away with a grand prize of $10,000.

Talented archers Chris, Alex, Jennifer and Edmund take aim with primitive bows at the Ultimate Marksman title and the $10,000 prize; they'll have to hit moving targets through the forest in a challenge inspired by Comanche horseback archers.
Four sharpshooters take aim with black powder rifles at a $10,000 prize; Eric, Neno, Robert and Seth play a game of revolver roulette and then must keep their composure while racing up a mountain to simulate tracking prey over a ridge.
Ace archers compete with primitive bows for a chance at $10,000; Peter, Reo, Haley and Correy race up-river to draw on tricky targets and take aim at a bison-sized wheel as it rolls downhill.
