Nine individuals take part in a 24-day survival challenge to find out who has what it takes to consider themselves a true-blue ninja. The challenge includes eight grueling missions -- trekking through a frigid swamp, surviving overnight on an icy glacier, crossing a raging river, escaping imprisonment, and more -- created by Jinichi Kawakami, Japan's last ninja grandmaster, which push the wannabe warriors' body, mind and spirit to their breaking points. Those who complete the entire survival challenge receive a final lesson from the master himself in Iga City, Japan, the legendary home of the ninja.

  • Nine modern-day warriors rely on the lessons of the ninja after being dropped into three brutal environments, including a frozen glacier, a frigid swamp and a wind-battered mountainside.

  • Pushed to their limits on a barren, battered island, the nine survivalists are desperate for food, water and fire; the brutal conditions causes one warrior to reach a breaking point.

  • Rafting through frigid, mountain rapids tests the survivalists' will and ability to work together; an injury could take one of the warriors out of the challenge.

  • To cross a 90-foot vertical gorge, the survivalists must work together to build a rope bridge; one warrior must overcome a debilitating fear to complete the challenge.

  • Racing against time, the survivalists must carry a 125-pound captive through brutal terrain, including sheer drops, mountain gorges and frigid waterfalls; one warrior is given an ultimatum by his teammates.

  • Captured, bound and blindfolded in the dark of night, the warriors must escape the frigid Canadian wilderness before sunrise; one survivalist goes rogue.

  • Isolated and alone, each exhausted survivalist must prove themselves in a grueling, overnight solo mission; those who survive the final challenge will travel to Japan to receive a final lesson from a Ninja master.

  • Through never-before-seen footage and face-to-face confrontations, the survivalists provide fresh insights into the most harrowing missions and intense conflicts of the challenge when they are brought back together for the first time.
